[Short Story]

--???--

"Ughhh, well that was a mistake."

The young man held his head, a throbbing pain coursing through it as he steadied himself. It wasn't exactly unexpected-- the method he was using for "remote control" as it were was extremely experimental, and he may be putting in more than the recommended amount of himself each time. A bit of a headache was nothing.

This one was pretty bad, though. He might've over-exerted himself, trying to keep track of that Phoenix.

He slumped back into his chair, looking around the admittedly bare shelter he had taken to hiding out in. He had been forced to abandon his official station thanks to his methods; not that he regretted it. He felt that the current methods were far too slow, with too many risks at hand for the length of time it was taking to establish a point of contact, and he didn't need that one girl getting on his case either. Hell, if he could just simply make the contact himself, he'd do it and get the job over with instead of hiding out here.

But no, thanks to the method, transference of knowledge was incomplete. He didn't like it, but everytime he submerged himself mentally, he felt fractured as a result, and even though he's been pushing the limit harder and harder, he still wouldn't be able to convey things accurately.

"Course, the one looking for me right now is in the same boat." He mused to himself, thinking about the one who appeared to be trying to track him. He had picked up on it already, it's no surprise they'd be sending someone after him anyway, but he was too well-hidden here in their own world. Only figures they'd try to pinpoint him from the other end.

But she had to do things within regulation. Within safe measures. Hers was a more longterm transfer, so it had to likely be just above the bear minimum of consciousness...

He shook his head. No, he couldn't work under those conditions anyway. And with piggy-backing off of someone living, it made it even more difficult. Even if it'd be just... So much easier to supplant him...

The young man pinched himself, distracting him from the temptation. No, that'd actually make him obvious. He had to continue the current plan with the crystals, hoping to anchor everything to move onto the next step.

He was just admittedly, a bit annoyed. Sure, maybe it was because of the disconnect of knowledge...

But he had been aiming for the Gishki, not the Phoenix. What a waste of a crystal!

[Journal Post]

It seems my efforts to locate what I am seeking have remained fruitless. So I shall attempt to be more forthcoming with information:

Once again, my name is "Lulu". If anyone has any knowledge as to crystals that transform people into monsters, or if someone is going by the name of "Ren", please contact me. I am easily able to arrive anywhere in Den City, Heartland City, Domino City, and Maiami City.

... It appears the weather has been shifting, too...
